The brewhouse

Brewed on a Grainfather G40, then canned and kegged at home. A gadget-heavy setup by choice: most of it reports in to Kegland’s RAPT system.

  • Cannular Semi-Auto Pro benchtop can seamer

    Cannular Semi-Auto Pro

    Can seamer

Every Venaas beer goes out in a can or a keg now. This benchtop seamer closes each can on the spot, so a batch is packaged the same day it leaves the keg.

  • Cannular can and bottle filler with RAPT controller

    Cannular Can & Bottle Filler

    Filler

Purges oxygen, fills to a set level and runs off its own regulator. It talks to RAPT, like most of the gear here.

  • Tapcooler counter-pressure bottle filler mounted on a tap

    Tapcooler

    Counter-pressure filler

Clips onto the tap to fill bottles straight off the keg, keeping the carbonation in and the foam down.

  • Grainfather G40 all-in-one brewing system

    Grainfather G40

    Brewhouse

The main system since 2021/22. Forty litres on paper; with BrewFather’s top-up function it turns out 50–60 litre batches.

  • Grainfather 40 litre sparge water heater

    Grainfather 40L Sparge Water Heater

    Sparge

Holds the sparge water at temperature through the whole rinse, for steady extraction from the grain bed.

From a 30‑litre kit to North Brew’s 1000 litres

Ten years of brewing, with a break in the middle and a good friend to thank for the restart.

  1. 2015

Started small with a 30-litre kit from Netthandelen. An extract brew first, then a few all-grain kits. Decent beer, and then a break of a few years.

  2. 2020

Met Kenneth of “Shit Happens”, who got me brewing again. First on his G30, then on a second-hand system of my own. Kenneth is still my brewing partner.

  3. 2021/22

Bought the Grainfather G40. I still brew on the G30 and a Speidel 50 with Kenneth now and then.

  4. Nittedal

Brewed several times at North Brew, five of them on their new 1000-litre system.

  5. Now

Fully over to cans and kegs, with the full Kegland RAPT series keeping an eye on things. Light, easy-drinking beers by preference, and competitions for the fun of it.
